Warm Expellant
Signs and symptoms to look out for
Most Threadworm infections are light. Often there are no symptoms, but the most common signs are:
Itchy bottom (especially at night), Restless sleep, Irritability, Loss of appetite
For definitive proof of Threadworms infection, look for the following:
- Worms on the outside surface of bowel motions - these resemble fine pieces of cotton thread, up to 1.5cm long. For further information, including pictures of actual Threadworms, see Facts about Worms.
- Moving worms or eggs around the anus - about an hour after the child has gone to bed. Using a torch, worms should be visible to the naked eye, however a useful way of detecting eggs is the "sticky tape test". Press a piece of tape against the anus and remove - Threadworm eggs will appear as tiny white specks on the tape.

Zentel 200 mg
INDICATIONS:
ZENTEL is indicated in the treatment of single or mixed intestinal parasites. Clinical studies have shown albeneffective in the treatment of Ascaris lumbricoides (roundworm), Trichuris trichiura (whipworm), Enterobius vermicularis (pinworm/threadworm), Ancylostoma duodenale and Necator americanus (hookworm), Taenia spp. (tapeworm) and Strongyloides stercoralis.
ZENTEL has been shown to be effective in the treatment of Giardia (duodenalis or intestinalis or lamblia) infections in children.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Albendazole is known to be teratogenic and embryotoxic in animals. The safety of albendazole during pregnancy has not been established, and ZENTEL should not be taken by pregnant women at any stage of their pregnancy or by women who are likely to become pregnant, during or shortly after the course of therapy. ZENTEL is contra-indicated in patients with a known history of hypersensitivity to albendazole or constituents.
DOSAGE AND DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
Usual Dose:
400 mg (two ZENTEL 200 mg tablets) or 20 mL (400 mg) of ZENTEL suspension as a single dose in both adults and children over two years of age. The tablets may be chewed, swallowed or crushed and mixed with food. The usual dose in children between one and two years of age is 10 mL (200 mg) of ZENTEL suspension as a single dose. In heavy mixed infestation involving Strongyloides or Taeniasis, a single daily dose may be inadequate and the dose may be given for three consecutive days.
Note:
If the patient is not cured after three weeks, a second course of treatment may be given. No special procedures, such as fasting or purging, are required.
Albendazole has not been adequately studied in children under one year of age.
Giardiasis (dose in children over 2 years of age):
A single 400 mg daily dose (two 200 mg tablets or 20 mL suspension) for five days.
The tablets may be chewed, swallowed or crushed and they should be taken with food.
SIDE-EFFECTS AND SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS:
Gastrointestinal discomfort, diarrhoea, headache and dizziness have been reported.
Hypersensitivity reactions including rash. pruritus and urticaria have been reported less frequently.
Interactions:
Praziquantel has been reported to increase the plasma levels of the albendazole active metabolite.

Pyrantel pamoate is used for
Treating certain worm infections (eg, pinworm, roundworm).
Pyrantel pamoate is an anthelmintic agent. It works by paralyzing the nervous system of intestinal parasites (worms). The parasite is then passed in the stool.
Do NOT use pyrantel pamoate if:
- you are allergic to any ingredient in pyrantel pamoate
- you have liver problems
Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.
Before using pyrantel pamoate:
Some medical conditions may interact with pyrantel pamoate. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you have any medical conditions, especially if any of the following apply to you:
- if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding
- if you are taking any prescription or nonprescription medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement
- if you have allergies to medicines, foods, or other substances
- if you have worms other than pinworms
- if others in your home also have pinworms
Some MEDICINES MAY INTERACT with pyrantel pamoate. Tell your health care provider if you are taking any other medicines, especially any of the following:
- Piperazine because the effectiveness of pyrantel pamoate may be decreased
This may not be a complete list of all interactions that may occur. Ask your health care provider if pyrantel pamoate may interact with other medicines that you take. Check with your health care provider before you start, stop, or change the dose of any medicine.

WORMIN TABLET
Wormin exerts a local action on the worms in the gastro-intestinal tract. It inhibits the glucose uptake of worms irreversibly resulting in parasite immobilization and death, worm clearance from the gastro-intestinal tract may occur up to 3 days after treatment. Wormin also inhibits the development of ova and larval froms.
Wormin is poorly absorbed from the gastro-intestinal from of decarboxylated metabolite. This poor absorption contributes to almost compelet lack of side effects with mebendazole.
INDICATION:
Wormin is effective agasinst large number of worms. Being broad spectrum in nature it is recommeded in single as well as mixed infestation. It is useful in the treatment of follwing worm infestation.
Ascaris lumbricoides (round worm)
Ancylostoma duodenale (old world hook worm)
Necator americanus (new world hook worm)
Enterobius vemicularis (thred worm or pin worm)
Trichuris trichiura (whip worm)
Wormin has also been found to be effective in following worm infestations.
Taenia saginata (beef tape worm)
Taenia solium (pork tape worm)
Capillarie phillippinensis
Trichostrongylus
Trichinosis (hydatid cyst)
Echinococcus granulolsus
Strongyloides stercoralis
DOSAGE & ADMINISTATION:
Wormin is given orally in a single no special preparation like fasting or purging is required.
If the patient is not cured in 3 week after treatment a second course of wormin may be given. In hydatid cyst medical therapy with high dose mebendazole (40mg/kg/day) has been used successfully.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
Pregnancy and hypersensitivity to mebendazole.
PRECAUTION:
The drug has been extensively studied in children under one year, therfore in the treatment of children below one year the benefits should be weighed against possible hazards.
ADVERSE REACTIONS:
WORMIN is virtually free from side effects. Transient abdominal pain and diarrhoea have beeen reported only rarely in cases of massive infestation of worms,. As a result of poor absorption mebendazole does not cause systemic toxicity in clinical use.
